Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

MT is based on the use of a magnetic field and used on objects with high permeability such as carbon steel. It is mainly used to detect surface or subsurface cracks during fabrication or in-service inspections of castings, welds or forges.

Magnetic particle testing is a highly reliable and sensitive inspection technique.

It is fast and relatively easy to apply, and surface preparation is not as critical as compared to other NDT methods.
